11th Annual Black and White Spider Awards: I received a nominee in the category ‘People’ for my image ‘New York Walking #13380’. This competition received 7,556 entries from 71 countries.
I am pleased to announce that I have been included in LensCulture‘s list of top 100 photographers in 2016 in the topic of Street Photography.

PSWT (Park Slope/Windsor Terrace Artists) will have a group show as part of a new art event in Park Slope, Brooklyn, called “Art Slope”. The PSWT exhibit is at 575 Fifth Ave, between 15th & 16th St, Brooklyn.

I had fun this month attending an Akademie workshop held at the Leica Store in Mayfair London, from Sept 13 – 16, with Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden.
It was an inspiring and entertaining few days with Bruce. Stay tuned for more of my “Walking Pictures”, this time set on Oxford Street, London. Thanks for a fun time Leica and Mr. Gilden.

My piece ‘Raindrops on Car, Red‘ will be included in an exhibit curated by Richard McCabe on the theme of Water. 55 images were selected from a submission of 1,745 entrees.
From the Juror’s statement:
“Life on earth is made possible because of water. The surface of the Earth is over 75% water. Human blood is over 90% water. Mankind’s complex and interconnected relationship with water makes for unlimited possibilities for photographic exploration. Water can sustain human life and it can destroy cities. Issues of water rights, droughts, hurricanes, and rising sea levels permeate the headlines.
Water 2016 features many varied and diverse approaches to the visualization of water in contemporary photography.
Water is very photogenic. It can be opaque or translucent, textured or smooth, it can be still or moving; it shimmers and reflects light. Water can be photographed from above and below its surface. Its colors and tonal range change with temperature and light.”

BWAC’s annual summer group show in a 25,000 square foot warehouse on the water in Red Hook, Brooklyn. BWAC (Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition) was started in 1978 and is now Brooklyn’s largest artist-run organization with over 400 members.
I will be exhibiting 6 images from my Ground series.

About the Juror:
Karen Klinedinst is a landscape photographer from Baltimore. Since 2011, she’s has been using her iPhone and iPad exclusively to photograph and express the landscape. Her landscape iPhoneography has been exhibited widely, including the Center for Fine Art Photography, Soho Photo Gallery, and the Biggs Museum of American Art. She was awarded an Honorable Mention from the 2015 Mobile Photography Awards. She teaches iPhone Photography workshops at Baltimore’s Creative Alliance, Chestertown RiverArts Gallery, Adkins Arboretum and at her Baltimore studio..
